A little about Abigail…

After obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from the New York Institute of Technology in 2010, I embarked on a distinguished 10+ year career in high-end residential design in New York City. I began planning her departure as an employee of the design industry after having my first child, and began taking on side projects in efforts to begin my own studio. After a few years, I officially founded Casa Marcelo in 2020 and became a full-time entrepreneur.

As the inception of Casa Marcelo is a product creative burnout, lack of representation and lack of work-life balance experienced during my tenure, I strive to create a healthy work environment for my staff and clients. I take pride in providing a safe space for our workers, and departing from the well-known toxicity of the design industry. I’m BIG on communication and transparency. I never want anyone working with me to be treated as I was during my tenure.

Wellness is a focus for Casa Marcelo, as I have dealt with mental health issues and burnout throughout my career. Wellness is weaved through the ethos and design approach of Casa Marcelo, and we try to offer peace of mind for our clients and team.

4 Week Live Series discussing the following:

  • The Interior Design Value System

    It's not just about design—it's about running a successful business and knowing your worth. I will discuss how I discovered my own value system, and the process in which I realized I was undervaluing my talent. Using real life examples, anecdotes, and mindset exercises, we will delve into your own talent and value system. We will discuss imposter syndrome and how to eliminate it, pricing models, and how to tap into your own value.

    I will then show you how I arrived at my pricing model and cost. We will look at the data and how I use this data to price myself well for projects. We will talk about time-tracking and gathering the correct data to position yourself for profit. We will also talk about commission and how that adds to profit margins.

  • Week 2: A Streamlined + Efficient Design Process

    Maximize your time and profit by leveraging the right digital tools and techniques. If you are not efficient, you are not profitable. I'll walk you through each phase of my design process and workflow, from Client Intake to Design, to Project Management, sharing how I use digital platforms to work efficiently. I will give you an introduction to the platforms and systems I incorporate into my own workflow to cut down on time.

    We will dive into the technology and platforms I use to help me save time. We will run through email templating and workflow setup in Dubsado, describing how I came to the final workflow that I apply to each lead. We will also discuss toggl, clickup, canva, and how to stop creating drawings from scratch.

  • Week 3: Project Manage + Closeout Projects like a PRO

    Purchasing, Project Management and logistical planning takes up about 70% of our time on a project. I'll share which steps I take during this phase of a project to promote clarity amongst Clients and contractors. We will discuss how I get a project to the finish line with abundant communication and efficiency every step of the way. We leave the clients feeling great about the end of their projects and prepared to take care of their new homes.

    We will then explore the tools I use in order to manage projects efficiently. We will discuss specifications, order management, and I will brief you on Studio Designer, the app I use to track orders. I will also share certain docs I send to my clients at project closeout, so that they don't have to call us in a year or so when something breaks down!

  • Week 4: Q & A

    This week is all about personalized guidance and fine-tuning your approach. After implementing the strategies and frameworks we've covered, we'll sit down for a 30 minute one-on-one session to review your progress, address any lingering questions, and troubleshoot any challenges you've encountered.

    This is your opportunity to gain direct feedback, clarify uncertainties, and refine your processes to ensure your business is operating as smoothly and profitably as possible. No topic is off-limits—whether it’s workflow efficiency, client management, pricing strategies, or anything else that’s been on your mind.
