Meet the Team
Abigail Marcelo Horace
Principal + Founder
Abigail has been interested in Interior Design since her youth, having been immersed in music and the arts as a child. After obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from the New York Institute of Technology in 2010, she embarked on a distinguished 10+ year career in high-end residential design in New York City. After working for notable design studios Dumais Interiors and Hendrick Churchill, Abigail officially founded Casa Marcelo in 2020 and became a full-time entrepreneur.
Abigail’s favorite aspect of design lies in envisioning the potential of a home through meticulous sourcing, particularly at the inception of a project. She also loves to learn all about the client so that she can nail the design presentation from the start. Elevated, casual, and detailed interiors are the goal, and Casa Marcelo loves to bring it to fruition.
Wellness is also a focus for Abigail, as she has dealt with mental health issues and burnout throughout her career. Wellness is weaved through the ethos and design approach of Casa Marcelo, and she aims to offer peace of mind for her clients and team.
Abigail draws inspiration from various sources including nature, historical architecture encountered during her travels, and her family. A dedicated wife and mother to two young sons, she cherishes moments spent with family, indulges in travel, relishes 'me-time', and delights in discovering new music.
Charles Matz
Architect, AIA
Master planner and architect for fine art, exhibition spaces, and pavilions at the Musée du Louvre and Château de Versailles, as well as institutional projects at Princeton University. Over 15 years, Mr. Matz led over 20 major renovations and new works, including athletic facilities, lecture halls, laboratories, and master planning efforts at Princeton, Williams College, and CUNY.
Internationally, he has collaborated with clients like The New York Stock Exchange, SONY, Viacom, Disney, and J. Walter Thompson, delivering over 150 broadcast, live stage, and media projects. His multidisciplinary expertise extends to branding, manufacturing, and hospitality design, including a renewal strategy for the Princeton and Columbia Clubs in New York.
Mr. Matz was raised in Venice Italy and New York City and attended university in New York, London, and Oxford.
Christie Florio
Junior Designer + Project Manager
Christie Florio is a Junior Designer and Project Manager at Casa Marcelo with a dual background in Graphic Design and Interior Design. She holds a Bachelor’s degree from Western Connecticut State University and an Associate’s degree from Norwalk Community College.
Christie plays a key role in both design and operations—contributing to concept boards, specifications, color palettes, and layouts, while also managing project logistics to keep timelines on track and clients well-supported. In her free time, she enjoys treasure hunting at thrift stores, spending quality time with friends and family and embracing spontaneous adventures.
Katie Toole Arevalo
Client Services + Hospitality Manager
Born and raised in the Berkshires, Katie pursued her education at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. She has since lived and worked in Boston and San Diego, building over 12 years of experience in wedding and high-end event sales and consulting.
During the pandemic, Katie and her husband returned to the Berkshires, where they are raising their two young daughters, Sloane (3) and Jameson (2), along with their beloved dog, Bear. Outside of work, Katie enjoys cooking, practicing yoga, and spending quality time with family and friends.
Erin Onsager
Financial Operations
Erin Onsager leads financial operations at Casa Marcelo, where she is streamlining systems and ensuring accurate reporting to support the firm’s creative work. She’s also the founder of Simply Spreadsheets, a consulting firm helping small businesses with budgeting, forecasting, and financial clarity.
A Connecticut native and University of Chicago economics graduate, Erin brings over 20 years of experience in finance—including roles in lending, asset management, private equity, and as a university CFO. She’s passionate about real estate investing and enjoys mentoring others in building financial confidence. When she’s not deep in a spreadsheet, Erin enjoys cooking, hosting dinner parties, traveling, and camping with her dog.
