After spending the pandemic in nearby Falls Village, the homeowners decided it was time to turn their Litchfield house into a true reflection of who they are. They turned to Casa Marcelo to help bring out the soul of the space—and the result is a vibrant, joy-filled home that radiates personality and warmth.

A bright yellow bookshelf with decorative items stands beside cream and patterned curtains by large windows showing greenery outside. Blue and wooden furniture, patterned curtains, and a patterned blue wall provide a vibrant, eclectic style.

Rooted in a classic New England aesthetic, the design offers a fresh take on country motifs with a bold, modern spirit. In the Living Room, we preserved the existing wall color but painted the trim and fireplace mantle to create a playful contrast. A palette inspired by nature—sunny yellows, leafy greens, sky blues, and whimsical bumblebee details—gave the room a lighthearted, uplifting energy. A lacquered Don’t Be Churlish étagère from Dunes + Duchess added a touch of sculptural charm.

The most dramatic transformation, however, unfolded in the Foyer. Taking a leap of faith, the client embraced our suggestion of a statement wallpaper—an artistic, hand-drawn take on a traditional tartan that instantly redefined the space. We added a stair runner and refreshed an existing chest in a mauve tone pulled from the wallpaper, layering in texture and color.

In the Sunroom, we created a multifunctional Den, ideal for work or lounging. Walls, sashes, and mullions were painted a soft mint green, while a cozy L-shaped sectional invited comfort. Floral and colorful accents carried the home’s motif throughout, tying each space together with intention and warmth.
