Westchester Charm

In this home where the girls outnumbered the boys, it became a celebration of heritage and femininity, all while preserving the warmth and quirks of a 1920s Westchester classic.

The Living Room presented classic 1920s asymmetry, but we worked with it—building a window bench between existing bookcases to create a cozy nook. Swivel chairs allow for flexible conversation zones, whether facing the window or the sofa. A mix of pieces—a coffee table, floor lamps, ottomans, and a credenza—brought warmth and balance. Matching drapes and Roman shades in a soft print added a delicate finishing layer.

In the Family Room, we styled an existing Eames lounge chair alongside the sofa, finished the space with custom window treatments, a Vitsoe wall unit for record storage, and carpet tiles for a cozy, lounge-worthy feel.

Upstairs in the Office, we played up the charm of the attic slopes with a soft blue palette, adding cushions to the window seat and a café table for relaxed moments. A chaise lounge was tucked into an otherwise unusable corner, transforming it into the perfect reading nook. Framed covers of The New Yorker—a nod to the client’s Manhattan roots—were used as decor, infusing the space with personal history and city sensibility.
